We seen a lot of avalanches coming down the faces so be aware of that movement. @Vera It’s hard to relate to the oppressive heat that many are feeling this summer – especially when you’re up in the mountains. Many people make it as far as the high point on the Iceline and then turn back. @Cathy Precarious is a good word. In total there are 150 campsites over four frontcountry campgrounds. What dramatic scenery on this trail. It took us just over 5 hours. However it wasn't that difficult. Its been rated as difficult and it would be so if you took the steeper route(clock-wise) For me it wasn't difficult but it took a lot of patience. The only downside is that it’s a popular trail especially on a weekend, so don’t go expecting solitude. The trail is extremely well maintained otherwise. Even with the weather we had a wonderful time the views are well worth it. Hiking is superb especially on the Iceline Trail and anywhere in the Lake O’Hara […]Thanks for this post. So, basically you walk on flat lands for a while and then gain some elevation and this goes on throughout the entire hike till you reach the top which is a little past Celeste lake.

Amazing views, would recommend. Also, you get to see Takakhaw falls from a distance as an added bonus. Just stunning scenery! Besides the diverse and scenic route and amazing views another good thing I have noticed was that there were no bugs at all.

Snow is supportive, had my gaiters but didn't need them. Seriously, wow! Suncream needed during sunny days as once out if the tree line it is all exposed. Love your picture with the gorgeous backdrop and that snowman is just awesome to come across. Still passable, but there were quite a few sections we were relying on one set of footprints and had to look around to reconnect to the main trail. I didn’t think about them at all on this hike – whereas I will when I hike in Waterton National Park (just north of Glacier) over Labour Day. Our way down was quite steep and rocky and very different from our way up. Or something else? Iceline via Little Yoho. Completed the Iceline on June 7 there was still plenty of snow right after Stanley hut onward. Anti-clock wise will cover the first 14 km and it was a marvelous decision. She’ll definitely love it.Wow. @Jeremy The difference is that there are an abundant of glaciers + the second highest waterfall in western Canada adds a little je ne sais quoi too. I personally felt the forest in BC is a little different than Kananaskis but then again I am no expert.

If it’s on the cloudier side opt for the Iceline – which is still amazing but it doesn’t have all those in your face turquoise coloured lakes.

via the Trans-Canada Highway and Yoho Valley Road. Last Sept. we were in shorts making snowballs. It thought it was pretty cute and I’m curious how many hours or minutes it lasted. This looks like a lot of fun.

!My favourite hike on our Glacier, Yoho, Banff trip.

What a spectacular hike!!!! To me it was a different kind of challenge and I quite loved it. @Jackie Stunning is what I was thinking every second of every step I took. That would make it a 12.8 kilometre (7.9 mile) round trip.

What saved us from that was the All-Trails map. @Andy It was an amazing hike and one of the best in Yoho National Park.Awesome – just changed my plans for Sunday to tackle this on my Golden Birthday (23 on the 23rd). @Jenny If it’s a brilliant sunshiney day, hike in and make it one very long day.
