We ate at the restaurant a couple times, and it was fine. Recommended spots to visit include Custer State Park (1-min walk) and Sylvan Lake (0.9 mi), along with Black Hills National Forest (1.1 mi) and Needles Highway (5.5 mi). The location of the Sylvan lake lodge is its best feature as it is actually close enough to walk to. There is virtually no cell service in the area and wi-fi works barely just in 1 section of the lodge.We stayed in one of the newer two bedroom two bath cabins - ours had a Lakeview. There are 31 cabins in the pine- and spruce-covered hillside, including sleeping cabins, a honeymoon cabin, and housekeeping cabins. We needed to change rooms after our first night . Yes, guests often enjoy the lake view available here. We were so impressed by the accommodations! The Sylvan Lake Lodge was like going back in time. I just wish there's a clear walking trail to go to the lake.It's tough to find parking by the lake so we decided to just walk and figure out the trail ourselves.Lost our way on our way back though.The location here is the highlight.
